The summer months can also be a precarious time for teen drivers. As summer approaches, many of our teenagers are celebrating the end of the school year with long weekend nights and big events like prom and graduation. That’s why before the start of the busy summer season, May is designated as National Youth Traffic Safety Month.
Parents and guardians should take the time to sit down with their teen drivers before they head out the door and get behind the wheel. Topics of discussion should include distracted driving such as texting or having too many teens in one car, wearing their seatbelt at all times, and setting a driving curfew at night to prevent drowsy driving and other types of potential accidents.
